Artist Statement
My name is Damien Rose I am a mixed media artist, I specialize in photography, film directing, social media managing, costume making, and digital editing. My art is a body positive experience that brings flesh to the next level. People who enter my artistic spaces for the first time are opened to new Queer experiences. I work with the Drag, Burlesque, Pup and Furry communities. My muse is Freddie Deadd and he is apart of all these communities. I do a range of small events to convention size depending on my budget and team capabilities.
The goal is to have an ongoing event of my own. I tend to work with pre-established teams and hop on other people's projects. The goal is to use the network of people I collected to have an ongoing monthly event or even an established bar. I use my own experiences and emotions in my art. I also enjoy bringing back people I've already worked with as like being able to trust my team.
My work is mostly involved in clubs or event center. I am a maximalist and the more space I have the bigger I go. At the moment I am most comfortable with a dive bar space. My whole art practice is a conversation with the Queer community. In this line of work I am constantly motivated and pushed into new art forms. All my work involves Queerness, working with Queer people in Queer environments. The most recent project I am working on is a short film about a serial killer who is a cannibal. Scarlett Blaque continues her beauty routine, dating, killing, eating, and uploading to youtube. We follow a true crime buff, Verdant, who stumbled upon her Youtube channel and is determined to prove these are real snuff films. He hatches a plan to stop her and with the help of online hire. This film is highly campy and very centered around Alternative Drag.
